How to Look Less Tired on Zoom With Makeup

If you’re reading this, it’s a sign to switch up your makeup routine.

As we continue navigating the age of Zoom, it’s easy to zero in and pick apart our appearances on camera. Among the most common skin-securities are dullness and tiredness. I’m here to tell you that there’s light at the end of the tunnel…and it will be emanating from your soon-to-be glowing complexion.

Radiant skin starts with a solid skincare regimen—groundbreaking, right? This probably isn’t news to you, but it’s worth reiterating that while skincare isn’t the fastest way to address dull skin troubles, the results are worth the wait. However, your quickest fix? Makeup.

With spring in full swing, perk up your daily look with the following makeup tips and product suggestions for luminous results on and off screen.

Look for light-reflecting primers

The right primer can instantly reawaken the healthy glow that’s been hibernating all winter. Keep an eye out for hydrating formulas infused with light-reflecting pigments that’ll shine through anything from tinted moisturizer to full coverage foundations. My all time favorite is VDL’s Lumilayer Primer Fresh. Infused with moisture capsules and a combination of red, white, and gold pigments, the silky formula quickly absorbs into skin for a lustrous, hydrated canvas. I also like to wear it alone for a dewy glow.

Switch out powder for cream blush

It might be time to break up with your powder blush in favor of a more moisturized flush. Cream blushes have emollient-based formulas that hydrate for natural results compared with the often cake-y effect of their powder counterparts. Natasha Denona’s Love Cheek Duo Cream Blush & Highlighter delivers petal-soft cream blush in a vivid pink hue packaged with pink champagne highlighter for pops of color that’ll liven you up on screen.

Fresh and easy eye makeup

WFH has definitely blurred the lines between work and relaxation. Compounded with constant blue light stimulation and you’ve got a sleepless situation on your hands. First, try to incorporate a couple midday naps throughout the week if you can—you deserve it. Second, go easy on the eye makeup to help freshen up your peepers. Effortlessly camouflage dark circles by picking out a full coverage concealer that’s a shade or two lighter than your current. Add a youthful sparkle to your eyes by lining your water lines with a shimmery eye pencil like Nudestix Eye Pencil in Stardust. Finally, curl your lashes to make tired eyes appear instantly awakened. Lastly, coat strands with a heavy-lifting mascara like Hourglass Caution Extreme for eye-opening definition.

Bright lip shades

The perfect compliment to a fresh eye look is bold lipstick! Add vibrancy to your look with a swipe of color in a seasonal shade. For spring, I love the velvety pink shade Andersen from LINA CHOO. Also, go for bright glosses, liners, and balms to watch your natural beauty blossom.
