Henna Tattoos – How I Do My Own Beautiful Designs!
How to Henna Tattoo Yourself
I’ve henna’ed my hair for more than a decade, and now I’m doing my own mehndi designs (henna tattoos) on my hands!
At the top of the pandemic, I bought myself a copy of “Teach Yourself Henna Tattoo” from Amazon, to keep myself from getting an actual, permanent, henna-inspired tattoo on my hand. I wanted to be able to do my own henna art regularly— making what is usually a temporary situation, permanent-ish since I could re-do without making appointments! I also bought some pre-mixed, all-natural henna on Etsy (Zenia brand) and then got hella distracted with life.
About 5 days ago, I finally dusted everything off and gave it a try! It’s a new art medium for me, but I’m loving it! The stain from this brand is SOLID (I store the cones in the freezer) if you’re in the market for some. I created the design freehand using inspiration from the book, and let it sit on my hand for 4 hours (and carefully sprayed with lemon water) and even after almost a week, it’s going strong!
Have you tried doing your own henna? Let me know!
