How To Create a Messy Bun for Long Hair
BONJOUR DAH-LING!
It’s time to master the one style that always looks super effortless and cute, no matter what the season or special occasion! And the best bit is you can easily achieve this popular style for longer hair using Number 4 botanical hair care products.
In particular, we’re looking at how you can achieve this perfect rainy-day hairstyle even if you’ve got long and luscious locks! Because there is a way to get it right, you just have to trust the process.
We need an easy hairstyle where we can just throw our locks up and it still looks chic. French girls can teach us a thing or two dah-ling!
A messy bun for long hair can seem challenging, but with the right Number 4 professional hair care products, you can master the look within a few minutes.
Create Some Hold
The first thing you want to do is create some hold, so your hair doesn’t completely fall apart.
N4 Blow Dry Lotion is perfect for this. It’s going to create the perfect balance of hold and condition, no matter your hair type! It’s also humidity resistant so you can ensure your messy bun isn’t going to increase in size throughout the day.
Simply distribute evenly through wet hair and blow dry as desired. You’ll then have a light hold needed for a casual messy bun.
Add Some Texture
Dah-ling, your hair is perfect just the way it is. But if you fancy adding a little bit of texture, then it can make it a bit easier to get that ‘messy’ look you’re after.
The N4 Sugar Texturizing Spray transforms limp, lackluster strands into loose and touchably soft waves. Just so you’ve got a little extra oomph, you know?
Cocktail with the N4 Blow Dry Lotion, and you’re going to get that bedhead definition that’s going to really help you out with the whole ‘messy’ part of the messy bun! Of course, N4’s products are all paraben free, too so this is one hot mess that’s good for you.
All you need to do is lightly spray onto dry hair and scrunch your strands a little with your hands. Or if you’re really feeling it, give your head a good old shake!
Depending on the level of ‘messiness’ required, you can backcomb some of the front pieces of hair using the N4 Detangling Comb.
Create the Bun, Hun!
With long hair, it’s super important all long strands are fully up, otherwise, it can look a little silly, all those excess strands flapping around aren’t exactly face-framing. So permission to flip your head upside down, and gather your locks together. Doing this will increase the volume of the messy bun and help eliminate unwanted bumps.
Make sure you have a hair tie handy and wrap the gathered hair around into a bun shape, and put the hair tie in place. If it feels a little loose, then you can always add another band – but remember, the messier, the better!
If you have some shorter bits of hair, you can certainly pull these out at the front for a tres chic finish.
Hold it in Place
Messy buns for long hair can be tricky as your locks may fall out of place throughout the day, so we recommend you use N4 Mighty Hair Spray. It will give you extra volume but also a strong yet flexible finish. This means your hair will remain in place all day but with a light hold, so you don’t feel all stiff!
Spray all around your hair after you’ve finished styling; it’s as simple as that cherie!
Our N4 hair spray, just like all our 100% vegan hair care products, is also squalene-free, gluten-free, paraben-free, and cruelty-free, but absolutely not stylistically free!
