Tips and Tricks for Using Olive and June
One of the drawbacks to achieving salon-worthy nails on your own is a steady hand. Olive & June took note of this problem and created Poppy, their patented, universal polish bottle handle that makes painting your nails easier, and faster. It works by stabilizing your non-dominant hand.
It’s also important to note that a base coat is included in Olive & June’s nail polish so you don’t have to use a separate base coat!
Another issue with DIY nails is chipping. Olive & June, gives the following recommendation to keep your mani looking fresh and fabulous.

- Avoid touching anything that can could transfer oil to your nail bed

Cons Of Olive and June Nail Polish
You can expect your manicure to last a week, give or take a couple of days, depending on the nail polish used – quick dry or long-lasting. If you want a solid 10 days or more then you may be disappointed with their polish. However, I think it’s important to mention that their nail polish can be removed with actetone-free nail polish remover which is not the case with most gel or gel-like polishes that may last longer but require some effort and chemicals to remove them!

Olive and June Review
I was so excited to test out Olive and June. As a former manicurist I’m always on the lookout for a better way to do my own nails at home. Who doesn’t want to achieve a salon worthy manicure at home?!
I got their Mani System. I really wanted to be able to speak to what it was like. I tried one of the quick dry polishes too and loved how fast it dried. As a busy mom who doesn’t have a lot of time to let my nails dry I love when a polish dries quick. The Mani System has everything you need to give yourself a manicure at home, from a top coat, nail file, nail buffer and nail clipper, polish remover pot, clean up brush, polish remover pot, cuticle serum, the poppy- their patented polish bottle holder that helps you apply nail polish with a steady hand and a polish color of your choice. This all comes in the cutest mani box! They really have thought of everything.
I love Poppy, it makes it so much easier for even an inexperienced person to apply their nail polish and their clean up brush is genius! Makes your nails look so clean. While I loved the quick dry polish I did find that it didn’t last as long as their regular polish. I also tested out their Nail Primer and found that applying it before my polish really helped my nail polish last a lot longer. I was hoping it wouldn’t matter because it’s one more step, but it really does. My manicure lasted me 4 days with no chipping. But as soon as I was in lots of water and washing dishes again, it chipped quickly for me. I know if I wore gloves it would help but I don’t. I could tell when I’m not cooking as much or using my hands it was fine. I do love the manicure process of Olive and June. I realized my manicure lasts so much longer if I wait to add the top coat after my nails are dry and give them a solid 20 minutes to dry.
I also did try their press on nails and did not like them. They fell off quickly and were too long for me. I couldn’t even do some tasks like normal because my nails were so long. I did cut them, but that was time consuming! I then had glue stuck to my nails afterwards. I would stick with the nail polish and skip the press on nails!
These are the press on nails that Olive and June offers. I didn’t like them for myself. Too long and cumbersome for my daily lifestyle.
Conclusion: Is Olive and June worth the hype?
In my opinion, this is one of the best performing and clean ingredient DIY nail systems on the market. Now if you are someone who enjoys the salon experience then maybe Olive & June isn’t for you. Don’t get me wrong I love going to the salon, but if you’re a Mom and can’t get to the salon as often as you’d like or don’t live near a salon that uses clean ingredients in their polishes or you want to save some money, then Olive & June is the DIY nail system you’ve been looking for.
