“It’s always packed in my bag.”

“I get to have fun in the sun without worry.”

sunscreen 5

Rain or shine, we never ever skip SPF. Sunscreen 5 is a holy grail for many DR’s Secret users — but why is it so popular? Let’s take a look at how Sunscreen 5 protects your skin while giving it a natural glow.

Here’s what you need to know about Sunscreen 5 1. All-rounded protection sunscreen has all-rounded protectionProtection against both UVA & UVB rays

One of the most important things to take note when choosing a sunscreen is to pick one that offers both UVA and UVB protection.

UVA rays are responsible for causing premature ageing of our skin. They penetrate deeper into the skin than UVB rays, causing visible signs of ageing such as wrinkles and dark spots.

On the other hand, UVB rays damage the outermost layer of the skin and are responsible for sunburns.

With SPF 30 and PA +++ protection, Sunscreen 5 ensures that your skin is sufficiently protected against these harmful rays.

SPF also known as Sun Protection Factor measures how well the sunscreen protects your skin from UVB rays. PA rating on the other hand measures its protection against UVA rays.

Let’s take a look at how Sunscreen 5 shields your skin against the harmful UVA and UVB rays!

*The use of UV test cards is purely for comparison purposes and does not represent our skin surface. UV test cards are able to test for the presence of UVA and UVB rays only. If UVA and UVB rays are present, the card turns purple. Otherwise, it remains white. The portion where Sunscreen 5 was applied on remained white as it was not affected by the UV rays.

Hybrid sunscreen

Being a hybrid sunscreen, this SPF product combines the benefits of both a mineral and a chemical sunscreen to provide all-rounded protection for your skin.

Titanium Dioxide is a mineral sunscreen component that sits on top of your skin to create a barrier that reflects and scatters UV rays.

Ethylhexyl Methoxycinnamate and Ethylhexyl Salicylate are chemical sunscreen components that work by absorbing UV rays, transform them into heat and then release the heat through the skin.

The combination of both creates a better sunscreen texture and reduces the possibility of white casts.

Is SPF 30 enough protection?

Isn’t the higher the SPF, the better? Well, that’s not always the case!

The SPF rating indicates the level of protection against UVB rays only, which means that a higher SPF does not equate to a higher protection against UVA rays.

Typically, SPF 15 blocks 93% of UVB rays, SPF 30 blocks 97% of UVB rays and SPF 50 blocks 98% of UVB rays. The increase is not too significant (note: no sunscreen can totally block out UVB rays).

sunscreen has SPF 30

Sunscreens with a higher SPF also tend to give you a false sense of security that makes you stay in the sun longer than you should. Generally, applying sunscreens with SPF 25-30 liberally on skin can offer sufficient protection for outdoor activities.

One thing to note: it is important to reapply your sunscreen frequently as and when needed. If you are outdoors, reapply at least every two hours.

If you’ve gone for a swim or need to reapply your sunscreen after sweating buckets, reapply immediately. This helps to ensure that your skin remains protected at all times.

2. Natural radiant glow lady with natural radiant glow

Besides giving you sufficient protection, Sunscreen 5 helps you achieve glowy and breathable skin effortlessly by giving you a natural dewy sheen, as if you’re glowing from within. The best part is – it doesn’t leave an undesirable white cast when well-blended.

With Sunscreen 5 on, you’ll notice a brighter skin tone and a healthier-looking complexion. Read how Sunscreen 5 looks against different skin tones!

3. Water-resistant use sunscreen that are water-resistant

While sunscreens can’t ever be fully waterproof, they can be water-resistant for a certain period of time.

If you’re heading to the beach, going for a swim or just want a sunscreen that can withstand sweat, a water-resistant sunscreen would be your ideal choice. Sunscreen 5 is a water-resistant sunscreen that is perfect for a fun day outdoors!

Applying Sunscreen 5

Use an adequate amount (about 2cm in diameter) of Sunscreen 5 and apply 2 to 3 layers for enhanced protection. When applying Sunscreen 5, gently press and roll the sunscreen with your fingertips into your skin.

Make sure to apply 15 minutes before you’re heading out to give your sunscreen some time to be absorbed to maximise its protection. Here’s a video to help!
